This Friday, May 9, the principal rector of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Aime Nogal, reported that more than 70 electoral experts from different countries will be present in the legislative and regional elections, scheduled for May 25.
In a special interview conducted on the Globovision podcast, Nogal highlighted the need to learn from the Venezuelan Electoral System, considered one of the best in the world for its automation and innovation. “Each country has its own peculiarity, its context and its political history, and of course the electoral systems respond to that political history,” he said.
Regarding the electoral campaign and the candidates' proposals, he stressed that it is crucial that each candidate to represent the People clearly explain their offer and promises to the voters. “I think that, fundamentally, in a campaign, the voter aspires to know what a candidate wants to obtain and be elected for,” he said.
He ratified that in this election, candidates will be selected in 88 constituencies that correspond to the deputies of the National Assembly, and at the same time, 92 constituencies that belong to the legislators of the Regional Legislative Councils and the 24 governors of the country's states.
Nogal emphasized the importance of the event as the only democratic route, urging active participation. “We have a commitment, and that commitment is, in some way, even a vision of life about what values one pursues, what values one represents and what values one holds on to. I'm always going to hold on to the vote,” he said.
Regarding the Electoral Simulation, Nogal reported that a total of 1,177 voting centers were set up across the country for the electoral simulation this Saturday, May 10, where “the voters' voting time” will be determined.
He explained that the simulation offers voters the opportunity to approach and learn about the electoral offer. “You educate yourself and see exactly where the candidate of your choice or the candidates of your choice are, if your vote is multiple,” he said.
