In a statement issued this Tuesday, the National Electoral Council (CNE) urged candidates who will be measured in the votes of next May 25 and hold positions in the public administration to dissociate themselves from them.

In the text, he explained that the call was made in response to articles 57 and 58 of the Organic Law on Electoral Processes, which establish the obligation to temporarily separate himself from public office from the beginning of the electoral campaign until the day of the election, both dates inclusive.

It was also explained that women deputies, as well as legislators and legislators who seek re-election, are exempted from this obligation, in accordance with the provisions of article 58 of the Act.

“The National Electoral Council reaffirms its commitment to legality, equity and respect for the regulatory framework that governs the electoral process, as a guarantee for the free, fair and transparent exercise of the popular will,” the statement concludes.
