The National Council of Universities (CNU), in its recent regular session, reaffirmed its commitment to a profound transformation of university education in Venezuela, with the purpose of consolidating comprehensive, innovative training aligned with the country's productive and social needs.

During the session, they approved an agreement to facilitate entry to university education. This agreement establishes that internal or diagnostic tests will no longer be applied or charged as part of the admission processes of publicly managed universities; to thus guarantee the right to free and quality university education for everyone.

This measure breaks down exclusionary barriers that limit access, allowing more young people to start their university studies without biased or discretionary filters that could generate new inequalities. The implementation of this inclusive policy recognizes academic merit through the National Entry System so that high school graduates with 20 points can enter any career and any university chosen in their first option.

On the other hand, students with 19 points in all their deciles, and the five best averages in each public high school and the three best averages in each private school can enter any of their first three options, to consider their individual academic abilities and also territorial and socioeconomic variables for a fairer allocation of places. Indigenous peoples and high school graduates with disabilities will also have priority in access.
