Governor Arnaldo Sánchez: More than 120 thousand people have enjoyed these Carnivals

This Monday, February 16, the governor of the state of Mérida, Arnaldo Sánchez, highlighted that more than 120,000 people have enjoyed the varied agenda of activities that take place within the framework of these Carnivals 2026.

“Our Carnivals began with a great parade; then we did our daytime parade where more than 35 floats and 120,000 people took to the streets to enjoy themselves,” Sánchez said during a telephone contact with Venezolana de Televisión.

He also highlighted the rehabilitation of the Mukumbarí cable car on the instructions of the President in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, together with the Minister for Tourism, Daniella Cabello.

Sánchez stressed that the sports, cultural, recreational and economic activities carried out during the season promote the integral development of the tourism sector and energize the local economy, while strengthening the projection of Mérida as a national destination.

He also announced the continuity of sporting and musical events to guarantee recreational spaces for both residents and visitors who arrive in the Andean region during the holiday.

Finally, the governor reiterated the invitation to locals and tourists to include Mérida among their destinations to enjoy some Joyful Carnival 2026, highlighting the state's safety, diversity of activities and natural attractions.
