Cocoa production in Venezuela registered an increase of 10% during the first half of the year, compared to the same period in 2024, said the director of the National Association of Cocoa Producers of Venezuela (ASOPROCAVE), Vicente Petit.

In an interview with the program A Tiempo, broadcast by Unión Radio, Petit highlighted that the international price of cocoa has been especially favorable for domestic producers, with an upward trend since December 2024.

In this regard, he specified that “the kilo has not fallen below 5 dollars and has remained stable between 6 and 7 dollars”.

He stressed that the international price is expected to remain between 7,000 and 8,000 dollars per ton, which represents a significant opportunity for the sector.

Regarding actions to strengthen production, Petit reported that 100,000 cocoa plants were donated to producers in the state of Miranda, which will allow the cultivated area to be expanded by 100 hectares.

He stressed that, although producers are satisfied with current cocoa prices, concerns persist about the control of diseases in crops. “They haven't complained about the price, but they have complained about the lack of effective support in plant health management,” he added.

In line with the strengthening of the sector, the team of the Ministry of People's Power for Productive Agriculture and Lands recently announced the export of the first shipment of 50 tons of cocoa beans to Russia, as part of a strategy to diversify business destinations and consolidate new economic alliances.

These actions are part of the Bolivarian Government's efforts to boost agricultural production and position Venezuelan cacao as a high-quality product in international markets.
