Colombia: Artifact explosion reported in Buenaventura

This Thursday, an explosion of an artifact was reported in Buenaventura, in the department of Valle del Cauca, Colombia, which left at least one person injured in that region located in the southwest of the country, according to local media reports.
According to detailed media information, the detonation took place on the Simón Bolívar highway, near the Casa de Cultura, where police personnel are already present, according to information from W Radio.
This latest event is in addition to the various attacks carried out in several municipalities in the departments of Cauca and Valle del Cauca since last Tuesday, leaving at least seven dead and dozens injured.
The forces of law and order attribute the attacks to the Carlos Patiño and Jaime Martínez structures of the self-styled Central General Staff.
The Minister of Defense, Pedro Sánchez, reported that the strategy of operation Coraza, focused on the border area between Valle del Cauca and Cauca, was reinforced, especially in municipalities such as Jamundí, Timba, Suárez and Morales.
Operations Persedo (in the Micay River region) and Cordillera (in Nariño) are being carried out, aimed at dismantling drug trafficking corridors and recovering rural areas controlled by armed groups.
He also announced that 600 additional soldiers have already been deployed in the region, and in the second half of the year another 400 uniformed personnel will be added.
