Colombia condemns attacks by the United States against Venezuela

Ante the military attacks perpetrated against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, by the United States, the Government of Colombia expressed its rejection through an official statement.
En the letter reiterates the brotherly country's attachment to the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, “in particular respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States, the prohibition of the use or threat of the use of force, and the peaceful resolution of international controversies.”
Asimismo, specifies that the New Granada Government “has put in place measures to protect the civilian population, preserve stability on the Colombian-Venezuelan border and address any humanitarian or migratory needs in a timely manner, in coordination with local authorities and competent bodies”.
Finalmente, “the Republic of Colombia reiterates its conviction that peace, respect for international law and the protection of life and human dignity must prevail over any form of armed confrontation.”
