This Tuesday, several explosive devices were detonated at three locations in Cali, Colombia; capital of the department of Valle del Cauca. The first violent act occurred after the explosion of a motorcycle bomb at the Meléndez Police Station, in the south of Cali.

Likewise, there was another explosion at the Manuela Beltrán Police Immediate Care Center, in the east of that city, confirmed the mayor of Cali, Alejandro Eder. Another event of the same nature occurred in the vicinity of the Los Mangos Police Station, also in Cali.

The Metropolitan Police of the capital of Vallecaucana confirmed that Meléndez had a preliminary balance of one deceased and several injured. The institution reported that currently only material damage has been identified in the Los Mangos neighborhood, and Manuela Beltrán reports an unknown number of injuries.

Likewise, another violent event occurred in front of the El Bordo Transit Secretariat, which is located in another separate department, Cauca; close to the Pan-American Highway that connects with the Nariño region, while an additional detonation took place in the town of Corinto and caused material damage to homes, material establishments and a police post.

“There is an increasing lack of control over this systematic violence that is manifested in the main municipal capitals and roads of the department,” said Oscar Campo, representative to the House of Cauca.

According to information published by Telesur, authorities began investigations to determine the exact perpetrator of the attacks and to reinforce security measures in the region.
