Colombian government ordered investigation into security flaws after attack on Senator Miguel Uribe

The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, ordered an investigation into flaws in the security scheme of senator and pre-candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay, who was the victim of an attack in Bogotá.
Petro described the attack as an event of profound national impact and asked to focus all efforts on preserving the life of the political leader. In addition, he urged the unity of the country and emphasized that security must be above any ideological difference.
According to what was published on the Sputnik website, the Public Prosecutor's Office, together with the National Police, announced a special strategy to identify the material and intellectual authors of the attack.
Uribe Turbay, senator of the Democratic Center, was attacked with a firearm during a political event in the Modelia neighborhood, in western Bogotá. He is hospitalized at the Colombia Clinic, with a reserved prognosis.
