Colombian citizens living abroad began last Monday, May 25, the voting process to elect the President and Vice President of the Republic for the constitutional period 2026-2030.
Election day, coordinated by the National Registry of Civil Status, takes place in authorized consulates and diplomatic offices worldwide, allowing the diaspora to exercise their right to vote throughout the week.
The foreign voting period will run until next Sunday, May 31, when the first-round election day will also take place in Colombian territory.
This process seeks to guarantee the active participation of nationals who are outside the country, who have been invited to attend their respective voting centers at the times established by the consular authorities.
This year's presidential election presents an overview with fourteen formulas registered with the electoral authority, who are competing for positions for the national executive. The elections are closely followed by international observers and civil organizations, in an environment marked by expectations about the political configuration that will take office on August 7.
The electoral authorities have arranged all the necessary logistics for the protection and transparency of the votes cast outside the borders. If a winner is not defined on this first day, a possible second round has been scheduled for June 21, for which foreign voting will also be enabled during the previous week.
