Colombians mobilize in support of Gustavo Petro

This Tuesday, February 3, the social sectors, unions and citizens will organize a day of mobilization throughout Colombia to express their support for President Gustavo Petro and defend sovereignty, minimum wage and democracy, Telesur reported.

The activity, referred to by the Government as a “chain of affections”, will focus on Plaza Bolívar, in Bogotá.

The call includes the main squares in several cities, with the objective of generating a simultaneous demonstration of support.

The call comes at a time of tension between the executive and the sectors of the right that reject social reforms, electoral guarantees and the protection of workers' rights. Participating organizations also state the need to guarantee voting, unrestricted political participation and income to meet the rising cost of living.
