The Venezuelan Consortium of Aeronautical Industries and Air Services (CONVIASA) reported an irregular situation that occurred with a flight covering the Cancun-Maiquetia route, after the aircraft was diverted to Jamaica without proper compliance with established procedures.

In a statement, the airline said that the Jamaican airport authorities did not provide the required operational support to the Venezuelan aircraft during its stay in that country, causing inconvenience for passengers and crew.

In addition, he indicated that the travelers stayed for more than eight hours in a situation of uncertainty, without receiving the assistance contemplated in international aeronautical standards for this type of contingency.

In view of this, the airline reported that it will continue to take appropriate steps to clarify what happened and ensure the protection of the rights of passengers affected by this situation.
