During the Extraordinary Virtual Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), the president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, assured that the actions of the Government of Ecuador against the Mexican embassy are unjustified.

“What happened not only impacts bilateral relations between Mexico and Ecuador, it affects the region and the international community as a whole. The violation of international law and the violation of the legitimate rights of a State is an insult to all,” said Díaz-Canel.

He urged that all rights be restored to former Vice President Jorge Glas, all rights “and to redirect his case as appropriate under international law. ”

He assured that it will depend to a large extent on the actions of CELAC that repugnant events like this do not happen again in Latin America and the Caribbean.
