Miguel Díaz-Canel, president of Cuba and head of the National Defense Council, announced on Tuesday that the reconstruction process is continuing in the areas affected by Hurricane Melissa, with special attention to the supply of electricity and access to water.

Through the social network X, the president indicated that more than 120,000 people are still under protection, while materials are being distributed to repair the damage in 45,282 homes, according to preliminary data.

The president specified that contributions are being received from governments, entities, microenterprises and community networks, within the framework of national and international assistance.

The recovery strategy provides for the progressive delivery of materials and the constant monitoring of conditions in the affected territories, Prensa Latina reported.

The National Defense Council continues to actively accompany the emergency from the alert phase, during the impact of the phenomenon and during the current phase of reconstruction.
