Cyclist Lilibeth Chacón wins five-time national individual time trial champion

The cyclist from Tachirense Lilibeth Chacón wrote a new page in Venezuelan cycling after being crowned five-time national champion in the individual time trial, at the start of the 2026 National Road Cycling Championship, which is being held in Valera, Trujillo state.

Chacón stopped the stopwatches in 39 minutes, 50 seconds to cover the 30 kilometers of route set between Ancho del Prado Avenue and the Turagual sector in Valera, according to the Ministry of Popular Power for Sports.

With this victory, the runner from El Piñal, Táchira state, has won her fifth national crown in the specialty in front of the clock (2017, 2022, 2023, 2025 and 2026).

At 34, Chacón also imposed a new historic record as the oldest cyclist to win the national title of the individual time trial in the elite women's category.

With this record, it surpasses the record held by Danielys García from Trujillo, who won the last of her ten national time trial titles in the 2018 edition at the age of 33.
