Delcy Rodríguez highlights Shanghai as the inspiration for Venezuela's economic transformation model

As part of her work agenda in the People's Republic of China, this Monday, the Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, held a meeting with the mayor of Shanghai, Gong Zheng, to strengthen trade ties between the two nations.

“I am very pleased, as a representative of Venezuela, to express here support for the Chinese people and to articulate better coordination mechanisms for our cooperation,” said the senior official of the Bolivarian Government, stressing that the Shanghai development model, “with its remarkable development and considered the economic and financial capital of China”, is “one of the most important urban centers in the world”.

In this regard, he pointed out that the Chinese city “is an inspiration for the model of economic transformation that Venezuela is building, adjusted to its own history, culture and characteristics.”

Rodríguez recalled that the relationship between Caracas and Beijing responds to a strategic agreement Every Test and Every Time, signed by presidents Nicolás Maduro and Xi Jinping in 2023. “We are called to consolidate cooperation based on mutual respect and the sovereignty of our peoples,” he stressed.

For his part, Mayor Zheng praised the achievements made in the bilateral relationship and reiterated Shanghai's commitment to economic, cultural and tourist exchanges. “China and Venezuela are good friends, partners and brothers,” he said.
