The Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, revealed this Friday that the International Criminal Court (ICC) did not take into account most of the arguments presented by the Government of Venezuela to suspend an unfounded investigation against the country.

“Barely 20% of the information provided by Venezuela was taken into consideration, it was evaluated, it was reviewed, it was observed, the rest of the information submitted by Venezuela was not taken into consideration, so much so that in the decision that comes out today in the Appeals Chamber, it points out that the Preliminary Questions Chamber was wrong not to fully analyze the information presented by Venezuela,” Rodríguez criticized in Venezuela telephone contact with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).

In this regard, he said they use the CPPI “to instrumentalize the order of international justice against Venezuela,” stressing that, in the Appeals Chamber, where the Venezuelan State presented its evidence in the last quarter of 2023, “it became very clear that Venezuela was indeed carrying out a process of investigation into crimes, which in no case have they categorized against the Statute of Rome as crimes against humanity”.

He emphasized that crimes against humanity have not been committed in the South American nation, “and we know that we are fighting for the truth in Venezuela and that is why we have presented with methodological patience the review of each of the cases, there it became evident and today it welcomes it.”
