The National Assembly (AN) commission for the promotion of public consultation on the Amnesty for Democratic Coexistence Bill held, this Sunday, a meeting in Caracas with the communal justices of the peace to unify criteria on the legal instrument.

As reported by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), the activity took place at the Guayana Esequiba Theater in San Bernardino. The consultation focused on the need to transform legal forgiveness into a tool for political stability and social healing.

The president of the commission, Jorge Arreaza, reaffirmed that the project is an initiative of the National Executive, while its vice-president, Nora Bracho, stressed that the law pursues the social welfare of the people and urged all sectors to socialize the text.

In addition, the deputy Pedro Carreño, specified that the success of the law depends on the participation of the People's Power in the consultation.

Justice of the peace Nakari Ugueto, of January 23, said that we must “bring conciliation and listen”, that “sometimes the problem weighs less when you are attentive” and called for reminding families that they lost loved ones in political violence.

Another justice of the peace, Gustavo Canchica, a member of the Peace and Coexistence Program, emphasized that amnesty must represent equal rights in the social, educational and recreational spheres, moving towards a single flag of national unity.
