This Tuesday, the president of the Special Commission for Monitoring the Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence, Jorge Arreaza, assured that the National Consultation will delve into the realities of the Venezuelan justice system.

“The Grand National Consultation for the Structural Reform of Criminal Justice in Venezuela, promoted by the Executive, seeks to eradicate flaws, corruption and procedural delay to achieve more equitable justice,” said Arreaza, adding that in this instance, those involved in judicial proceedings, family members and the authorities who handle the case will be heard.

During an interview for the program A Pulso, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), the deputy reiterated that the National Executive announced that next Monday, June 1, the Grand National Consultation for criminal justice reform will formally begin, whose strategic objective will be to define the rough lines of the projection of the judicial system, as well as to address historical critical issues such as procedural delay and judicial corruption as a matter of priority.

Arreaza recognized that this reform of the justice system has been a commitment of the Bolivarian Revolution, however since 1999 “the mafias” embedded in Chavism, led by Luis Miquilena, have imposed their pieces on the judiciary to prevent the necessary changes that will prevent the “criminalization of poverty”.

Arreaza, asserted that in the case of Yon Goicoechea, “an arduous and in-depth investigation was carried out with the firm purpose of evaluating the legal elements necessary to determine the applicability of the benefits contemplated in the Amnesty Act.”
