The president of the National Assembly's Special Commission for Monitoring the Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence, Jorge Arreaza, reported that more than 8,000 people have benefited in less than two months.

He explained, through a post made on the social network Instagram that “if we compare its application and results with the amnesty laws of other countries in recent years, that of Venezuela has been, by far, the most expeditious, efficient and timely. Attacking the application of the Law by trying to force cases that do not correspond to its letter or that are clearly excluded, is meaningless and does not pay tribute to coexistence and peace.”

Arreza pointed out that “having achieved full freedom to 314 people who were deprived of their liberty and 8,037 who were free, under presentation, in just 49 days, is the result of a great exercise of cooperation and coordination between the country's Justice Administration bodies, which have been able to interpret the immense political will of President (E) Delcy Rodríguez and the National Assembly, we are sure that other complementary processes will be useful to follow moving forward, without incurring impunity. The contribution of the Amnesty Law to democratic coexistence in the country at times of reunion has been extensive and is undeniable.”
