This Monday, the new ambassador appointed by Japan to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yasushi Sato, arrived in our country, who was received by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asia, Oceania and the Middle East, Tatiana Pugh.

Sato, born in Tokyo in 1961 and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1984, from there he developed his diplomatic career in America, the United States and Spain, in the last two he held the position of Consul General. In addition, he was director of the Cooperation with Non-Governmental Organizations (MOFA) division, the same position he held in the Non-Refundable Economic Cooperation Division (MOFA).

With regard to diplomatic relations between Tokyo and Caracas, they have been framed within the scope of economic and cultural cooperation, as well as the exchange of human capital; which has contributed to the development of both peoples.

In 2023, Deputy Minister Pugh and the chargé d'affaires of Japan, Kenya Uno, exchanged views on the bilateral relationship, specifically on the issues of both nations in an atmosphere of respect and cordiality, highlighting the long history of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
