Deputy Soto Rojas proposes to resume agreement to transfer Pío Tamayo's remains to the National Pantheon

Deputy Luis Fernando Soto Rojas (PSUV/National) proposed to the Board of Directors of the National Assembly (AN) to resume the parliamentary agreement, of 2022, which establishes that the process be undertaken to transfer the mortal remains of “Don Quixote for Freedom and Honor”, José Pío Tamayo, to the National Pantheon.

During the Plenary of the National Assembly (LAN) this Tuesday, Soto Rojas expressed his aspiration that the transfer of Pío Tamayo to the National Pantheon will crystallize after the presidential elections on July 28.

The parliamentarian presented his proposal regarding the 126th anniversary of the birth of Pío Tamayo, which took place in Barquisimeto, Lara State, on March 4, 1898. Soto Roja also proposed to reissue the only novel by the politician, “The Pain of the Rogues”.

To reinforce his proposal, regarding the transfer of the remains of Pío Tamayo to the National Pantheon, Soto Rojas recalled that the Parliament approved a first agreement in this regard, in August 2011. Likewise, and by unanimous vote, a second document was approved on October 6, 2022.

On both occasions, the AN appointed a special commission, with deputies from the state of Lara, to manage the procedures and protocols for the transfer, from El Tocuyo, to the National Pantheon, located in Caracas.
