Thousands of Venezuelans marched this Wednesday in the streets of the capital under heavy rain, to commemorate the anniversary of the Popular Victory of Commander Hugo Chávez Frías in the presidential elections of October 7, 2012, reaffirming their commitment to the Bolivarian project and national sovereignty.
The mobilization was attended by the national leadership of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), headed by its general secretary, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, who highlighted the validity of the historic feat against the opposition right: “The opposition candidate made fun of Hugo Chávez; but, since everything is written and everything that is going to happen, happens, the day he had his turn, at the polling stations, he had a roll that he could never get up again. They underestimated Chavez.”
“Today, when they underestimate this People, in the end, they want to underestimate Hugo Chávez and the powerful Popular Power movement that Commander Chávez was able to build, almost from the ruins of this country. Chávez was the hope of the poor, he is the hope of the poor; Chávez became the hope of youth, became the hope of indigenous brothers, became the hope of brothers and sisters of African descent, of women, of workers,” said Cabello during the tour.
Likewise, the former secretary general of the red awning reiterated that “Chávez is a national feeling of love and hope. Therefore, when I see them that they underestimate, I always say: Whoever has eyes, let him see! With a water stick of more than an hour, the Chavista people went out to march with their heart and soul. Remember that from that epic with Commander Chávez, the whole world demonstrated.”
