The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, stressed this Monday that the Law Against Hate, for Tolerance and Democratic Coexistence, which will soon be reformed, has served to “curb the ravings” of extremist sectors.

During the weekly press conference of the red awning, Cabello said that “I wish there was no need for a Law Against Hate”, but leaders of the extreme right have promoted violent actions against the people.

“You see today people who picked up, promoted..., went crazy when they burned a human being alive here, saying that they are persecuting them with the Anti-Hate Act. When they say that this is a repressive law. The same ones that supported the placement of guayas on the roads. The same people who party when they shot at a national guard or a policeman,” he lashed.

He emphasized that if these people didn't do so much harm to the country, “there would be no need for an Anti-Hate Law. That would be extraordinary, it means that we are moving forward.”

Cabello stressed that this Law, “at a given time, was a need beyond, as our president (Delcy Rodríguez) said, than the use that may have been given to it in some circumstances, it served to stop many people's ravings.”
