The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs,
Yván Gil Pinto, and the ambassador of South Africa, Lindiwe Michelle Maseko,
accompanied by the African Diplomatic Corps accredited in Caracas,
led this Tuesday the wreath ceremony before the sarcophagus of the
Liberator Simon Bolivar, as part of the events scheduled to celebrate the 21st World Week of Africa in Venezuela.
During the solemn ceremony, which was attended by the other representatives
of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Venezuela and the Deputy Minister of
Foreign Affairs for Africa, Yuri Pimentel, the authorities signed the book that records the visits to the Liberator's Mausoleum.
Through his Telegram channel, Foreign Minister Gil emphasized
that the Bolivarian Government is deeply honored to accompany the
distinguished diplomatic representation of Africa in this important ceremony.
“We pay tribute to the invaluable legacy of
African peoples, which has been fundamental in shaping humanity, as well as
to their rich cultural heritage, which has left an indelible mark on our Venezuelan
people,” said the diplomat in his message, reaffirming Venezuela's commitment “to strengthening ties
of friendship, diplomacy and broad and productive cooperation with the African continent.”
World Africa Week in Venezuela has been commemorated for 21
years at the initiative of Commander Hugo Chávez, as a sign of the
relationship and history that unite Mother Africa and the Bolivarian nation.
