The General
Directorate of Crime Prevention (DPD) reaffirms its unwavering
commitment to the consolidation of peace and the integral security
of the Venezuelan people.
Founded on February 11, 1970 by Decree No. 241, the institution has evolved over more than five decades. Currently, under the direction of the Vice-Ministry of Prevention, Public Security and Peace Quadrants of the Ministry of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace, the DPD is consolidating itself as the governing body in the design and implementation of public policies aimed at preventing violence and crime.
Under
the direction of Lusmialit Perdomo, institutional management focuses its
efforts on Vertex One of the Great Quadrants of Peace Mission: “
Integral Prevention for Life and Peace”.
The
work of the DPD is characterized by a multidisciplinary approach that encompasses
three levels of action:
• Primary
Prevention: Aimed at the community in general to promote a
culture of peace.
•
Secondary Prevention: Focused on vulnerable groups, including children,
adolescents and families at risk.
•
Tertiary Prevention: Implemented in prison facilities to promote
civic values and reduce criminal recidivism.
Flagship programs: Echa Palante and My Liceo, My Safe Zone
The DPD currently focuses its actions on two fundamental programs: “Echa Palante”, aimed at empowering and training youth, and the National Plan “My High School, My Safe Zone”, designed to protect educational spaces and promote healthy learning environments.
On this 56th anniversary, the Directorate General for Crime Prevention reiterates its mission to promote community participation and solidarity, working tirelessly to reduce violence at the national level and consolidate a safer society.
