On the occasion of the commemoration of
International Women's Day, the embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
in the United Mexican States, together with the Mexican
Social Security Institute and the Mexican Coordinator of Solidarity with Venezuela,
presented the documentary Hortensias for Inés, an audiovisual that
paid tribute to the leader María León, from the Isabel Corona Theater in Mexico.
The film is a reference for
Venezuelan feminism, and exalts the process of transformation carried out by the
Bolivarian Revolution for women's equality.
The event was accompanied by the
Venezuelan ambassador, Stella Lugo; the director of the film, Yekuana Martínez,
as well as the Mexican authorities and special guests.
Ambassador Lugo expressed her joy at the audiovisual projection that shows
the work of a great woman, just as
she highlighted the message of reflection on the struggle of Venezuelan women and which
invites new generations to move forward for greater inclusion and transformation.
“A documentary like this nourishes the soul,
to see María León is to see a lot of Venezuelan women, it's to see teaching in
essence, because she trained many of us to assume more participatory roles,” she stressed.
