The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has confirmed the death of 24 people and 980 injured after the earthquake that shook northern Afghanistan on November 3.
The organization indicated that more than 2,000 homes collapsed or were damaged. Rescue operations face obstacles due to mountainous geography and the deterioration of access roads.
According to the TASS agency, the organization warned of the risk of hypothermia and a possible increase in the number of victims due to the drop in temperatures.
The epicenter of the phenomenon was located 37 kilometers northwest of Mazar, a city with more than half a million inhabitants, according to the United States Geological Survey. The depth of the earthquake was estimated at 10 kilometers.
