This Monday, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 degrees was recorded in various areas of El Salvador. The phenomenon originated in the Pacific Ocean, south of Playa Mizata, at a distance of 43 kilometers, as reported by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN).

The depth was estimated at 31 kilometers, while its point of origin was located 78 kilometers southwest of San Salvador. The environmental institute ruled out the possibility of a tsunami alert.

According to the bulletin issued by the entity on platform X, the origin of the phenomenon would be related to the collision between the Cocos and Caribe plates, a common geological process in the coastal region of the isthmus.

The country is part of the so-called Pacific Fire Belt, an area of high seismic and volcanic frequency that also encompasses neighboring nations such as Guatemala and Nicaragua, Sputnik reports.
