Earthquake of magnitude 6.5 shook central Colombia

The Colombian Geological Survey (SGC) reported that an earthquake of magnitude 6.5 occurred this Sunday morning in the central area of the country. The seismic event occurred at 8:08 (local time), with an epicenter between the departments of Cundinamarca and Meta.
The earthquake originated in Paratebueno, Cundinamarca, and was felt in several regions, including Medellín, Villavicencio and Pereira. Minutes later, the SGC reported at least three aftershocks with magnitude of 4.5, 4.6 and 4.0 in the same area.
The governor of Cundinamarca, Jorge Emilio Rey, indicated that the impact of the phenomenon on municipalities is being evaluated and risk management committees have been activated to address possible consequences.
According to what was published on the RDN Venezuela web portal, so far there have been no structural damage or victims. Authorities continue to monitor the situation.
