The Minister of Health of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Samuel Roger Kamba, announced that the number of deaths from Ebola in the African country has risen to 131. Health authorities are on high alert to the spread of the virus in recent weeks.
So far, 513 suspected cases have been registered in the country. Minister Kamba clarified that all current figures are preliminary and that confirmation of further laboratory tests is required to validate the real extent of the outbreak.
This new balance represents an increase compared to the previous official report, which recorded 120 deaths and 435 infections. Epidemiological teams have intensified contact tracing in affected areas to curb the chain of transmission.
International organizations and local government coordinate efforts to strengthen care in health centers. The priority of medical brigades is to speed up the processing of biological samples and ensure the early isolation of patients.
