Ecuador: Jorge Glas's lawyer denounced lack of communication after illegal arrest

The international lawyer of former Ecuadorian Vice President Jorge Glas, Sonia Gabriela Vera García, denounced the lack of communication from her defendant in the “La Roca” Detention Center for more than 48 hours, a fact that violates his fundamental rights and puts the politician's security at risk.

In a letter addressed to the management of the Ecuadorian center, Vera García expressed her “deep concern and alarm” about Glas's inaccessible contact with his national and international lawyers and with his family members.

“The denial of access to your loved ones adds an additional layer of gravity to the situation,” adds the document published on the social network X.

In this regard, the human rights defender demanded immediate access and transparency.
