Emergency authorities count 92 dead and 242 missing due to earthquakes in Japan

92 people have died and 200 are missing, the death toll comes four days after a series of strong earthquakes in Japan.

This was reported by Kyodoa news agency when citing local authorities in Ishikawa.

The coastal city of Wajima, the most affected, still has more than 40 cases of people buried and trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings.

The Japanese Self-Defense Forces have expanded their efforts with the participation of some 4,600 personnel, who collaborate with the Police and Fire Department to expedite the search and confirm the safety of the missing.

The main earthquake, of magnitude 7.6, occurred on January 1 on the Noto Peninsula, off the western coast of Japan. This earthquake was the most intense recorded since 1885, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
