The former president of Colombia, Ernesto Samper, urged the president of the United States (USA), Donald Trump, to “get his hands out of Latin America” and to stop treating the legitimate president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, as a criminal.
“President Trump: Get your hands out of Latin America. Don't mess with the justice system that punishes Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil and judges Álvaro Uribe in Colombia. Don't treat the president of Venezuela as a criminal or think of sending troops to the region, because it will unleash a war with painful consequences,” Samper published.
He also emphasized that Trump has no power in Panama, the Malvinas or Guantánamo. “End the genocidal blockade of Cuba and Venezuela. Stop chasing Latin American migrants as if they were animals. Get away from us! Get your hands out of Latin America,” he continued.
Samper , along with dozens of leaders from Latin America and the Caribbean, signed a statement in rejection of the imperial aggression against President Nicolás Maduro and in defense of the sovereignty of Venezuela, after the announcement of an alleged “reward” of 50 million dollars for the “capture” of the Venezuelan head of state.
