Executive Vice President Rodríguez accompanies the inauguration of the first female president of Suriname

From the city of Paramaribo, Suriname, the executive vice-president, Delcy Rodríguez, made an appearance at the facilities of the Anthony Nesty Sports Center; as part of the inauguration of Jennifer Geerlings-Simons, who will be inaugurated as the first female president of that country.

The participation of the vice-president reflects the interest of the Bolivarian Government in consolidating cooperation with Suriname in different strategic areas, reaffirming the bonds of brotherhood, mutual respect and active diplomacy that characterize Venezuela's foreign policy in the Caribbean and South America.

“We came to Suriname to participate in the inauguration of Dr. Jennifer Geerlings-Simon's, as the first woman to assume the presidency of this sister country. We bring the greetings and congratulations of President Nicolás Maduro Moros and the people of Venezuela,” the president wrote on her Telegram channel.

He also added that “our country reaffirms its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Suriname and to working together for peace, unity and the well-being of the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean.”
