With regard to International Women's Day, the exhibition “Geographies of Absence” was inaugurated at the Maturín Art Gallery, an exhibition that brings together pieces inspired by the feminine essence and the experiences of their authors.

During the opening ceremony, works made of acrylic paint and suede were presented, as well as exhibitions of communication art and the manual technique of rag dolls, all focused on highlighting the power and sensitivity of women. The exhibition will remain open to the public until March 16.

The president of the Municipal Institute of Culture of Maturín, Brillit Jiménez, expressed her satisfaction at receiving the talent of local creators in this cultural space.

In addition, he stressed that the activity made it possible to honor women linked to communication, culture and also to civil protection officials and the Monagas Police.

For her part, the plastic artist Elianny Rondón explained that her work was made on suede fabric using a rare technique, with which she sought to reflect the precision and determination of women to achieve their goals.

The day culminated with the presentation of the play “Morals First”, by the playwright José Gabriel Núñez, performed by the Maturín Chamber Theater Foundation (TECAMAT), an activity that also marked the beginning of the month of theater in the city.
