FCN celebrated the launch of the “Venezuelan Filmmakers' Notebook”

The National Cinemateca Foundation (FCN) celebrated the launch of the Venezuelan Filmmakers' Notebook, dedicated to the renowned documentary filmmaker Liliane Blaser, at the 20th International Book Fair of Venezuela (FILVEN), Miranda chapter.

The president of the FCN, Vladimir Sosa Sarabia, led the presentation, in which he emphasized the transcendence of Liliane Blaser's work due to her acute ability to capture reality and weave narratives of profound impact.

“Liliane is one of those who finish, make and finish a documentary hand in hand with her inseparable Lucía Lamanna,” he said, after announcing with enthusiasm that this edition will be available in both print and digital formats.

In addition, he highlighted the continuous work of Blaser, who is currently engaged in the production of two new documentaries. At the same time, he pointed out that as part of the tribute to the filmmaker, the Cinemateca will screen her documentaries in its theatres.

For his part, the general strategy coordinator of the National Cinemateca, Humberto Castillo, emphasized the importance of the collection “Notebooks of Venezuelan Filmmakers”, which with this edition reaches 17 issues, all dedicated to honoring the legacy of the creators of Venezuelan cinema.

In this regard, he extended a cordial invitation to the public to explore these valuable publications at the headquarters of the above-mentioned institution.

For her part, the research coordinator and editor, Marisol Sáenz, highlighted the commitment of the FCN research and documentation center to the dissemination of the work of filmmakers and the richness of national cinema. At the same time, he thanked Lorena Almarza for her dedicated work in researching and collecting testimonies that enriched this new notebook.

The honoree, Liliane Blaser, thanked her inseparable production partner, Lucía Lamanna, and reaffirmed the transformative power of cinema in society. He announced that his next two documentaries, currently in post-production, will address the elections of 2024, with the firm intention of denying opposition narratives about the will of the Venezuelan people.
