From the Plaza de Congreso and Plaza de Mayo in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a meeting took place with thousands of feminists against the neoliberal government of Javier Milei, in order to commemorate Working Women's Day, also known as 8M.
From 10 in the morning on Monday, March 9, it was convened through the organization Travesados por el femicide, with an emotional installation. The columns of feminist groups that marched alongside the trade union block began to arrive after 4 p.m.
This event took place in the center of the square, where the inscription “Unite the struggles to defeat the slave reforms of Milei, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and their accomplices” was read, which has more than 700 signatures from organizations, media and militants.
The document is a strong criticism of the economic policies of the neoliberal government and the attack on public policies, as well as against women and diversity. In addition, he mentioned that this month marks the 50th anniversary of the military coup, amid the chant “Milei, garbage, you are the dictatorship”.
The text focuses on rejecting “reforms that precarious life”, such as educational reform, labor reform, extractivist reform and the low age of accountability. In addition, he proposed opposing pension reform.
“In the face of hate, more organization; in the face of looting, more solidarity; in the face of cruelty, more community”, concludes the 8M document.
This call was promoted by the collective “Not One Less”, which received support from some organizations such as: the two CTA (Workers' and Self-Employed) and the General Confederation of Labor (CGT); the left-wing feminist collective Pan y Rosas, made up of the national deputy (FIT) Myriam Bregman; and the National Campaign for the Right to Legal, Safe and Free Abortion (which is part of classic feminist organizations).
