The 20th Venezuelan International Book Fair (FILVEN) successfully closed in Nueva Esparta, in La Asunción, under the motto “Reading transforms” and with 35 book presentations and other literary and artistic activities.

This was announced by the director of the State Cabinet of Culture, Héctor Casanova, who noted that the event brought together lovers of literature and culture in the region, according to the Ministry of Power for Culture.

“The 20th FILVEN Nueva Esparta was characterized by impeccable logistics and great assistance,” he said.

One of the highlights of the closing day was the visit of Maestro Beto Valderrama, an icon of Neo-Spartan culture, who shared his knowledge at a conservatory about the multiple ways of performing the joropo in Venezuela.

Maestro Beto Valderrama, recognized as the state's living cultural heritage, is an active reference in the region, not only in music, but also as a writer, poet, composer and researcher.

In recognition of his invaluable contribution, he was awarded a certificate that accredits the Orfeón Neoesparta as an asset of cultural interest to the nation.

The FILVEN culminated with typical dances and dances, including a galerón in homage to the country's greatest festival of letters.

With this successful regional chapter, the 20th FILVEN closes its cycle of touring the country's regions and now gives way to its 21st edition to be inaugurated in Caracas next July.
