Flag-bearer Sabrina Baumgartner champion in speed climbing at the South American Games

The flag bearer of the Venezuelan delegation, Sabrina Baumgartner, was crowned champion in the sport speed climbing modality at the Santa Fe 2026 South American Games and ensures her participation in the next Lima 2027 Pan American Games.

The Venezuelan won the gold medal after achieving a 7.65 record, against the Ecuadorian Valentina Flores, who had to settle for second place at 8.50.

For her part, the third place and the bronze medal went to Chile's Anahi Rivero.

Previously, the Venezuelan climber competed in the semifinal round against the country's Ainoa Hernández, whom she beat with 7.85 to settle in the final of the race.

“It's incredible to see all the work and all the support we've received from family and people who promote sports, and also from all our own efforts to win gold,” said Baumgatner.

Baumgartner's victory in the regional joust marks her part of the history of Venezuelan climbing, as she was the first to be proclaimed champion in an edition of this event.
