The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, celebrated this Thursday the signing of the memorandum of understanding for the creation of the first Binational Zone of Peace between Venezuela and Colombia.

In telephone contact with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Foreign Minister Gil stressed that this space will be “one of growth, not only of the market, but also of financing, of supplementation, of supply of raw materials, of special conditions for production.”

He stressed that the ministries of Foreign Trade, Agriculture and Industry “are in perfect harmony, in constant and intense conversation with their peers in Colombia in order to create all the regulations, to create the structure, the legal architecture that allows attracting local and foreign investment.”

Gil emphasized that this is “a day of happiness, a truly historic day for Colombian-Venezuelan relations, after having experienced a dark period during the administration of President (Iván) Duque, who tried to turn this area into a zone of aggression against Venezuela.”

In this regard, he stated that “today that zone of hostility towards Venezuela, that we remember that unfortunate venture that they carried out from Colombia against Venezuela, called the Cucuta concert, with which it was intended to invade the country (...) Today that negative enterprise has disappeared and now we are entering into positive endeavors, cooperation, happiness for the people, happiness for the border.”
