The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, highlighted this Wednesday that it is a historic day after the signing of the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between the presidents of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
From Moscow, where he gave an assessment of the meeting between the two leaders in the Kremlin, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister stressed that “this is the first time that a Latin American country has signed a treaty of this caliber, a treaty in these dimensions that covers all spheres of cooperation” with the Eurasian giant.
He pointed out that this is an achievement of presidents Maduro and Putin “after the last 25 years of relationship between the two nations, where we have already carried out 18 joint commissions, we have signed more than 350 agreements and that this experience, that cooperation, that joint work manages to be reflected in this document of strategic cooperation.”
He said that the agreement addresses areas such as politics, “cooperation in the geopolitical sphere, in the multilateral sphere, the action of both governments that agree on the principles of defense of the United Nations, the principles of defense of sovereignty.”
In addition, Gil indicated that the alliance covers the economic, energy, financial and financial areas, scientific and technological cooperation, health, agriculture, security and defense, “the fight against drug trafficking, the fight against organized crime, the fight against terrorism, the area of technical-military cooperation. In other words, it is a comprehensive comprehensive agreement in all the areas that we have developed,” he emphasized.
