The Minister of Popular
Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil Pinto, received this Monday
the Style Copies of the designated ambassador of the
Democratic and Popular Republic of Algeria, Farouk Benmokhtar, in a protocol ceremony held at the Casa Amarilla Antonio José de Sucre,
in Caracas.
Through a
post on his Telegram channel, the Foreign Minister conveyed his wishes for
“success in his diplomatic work” to the Algerian Ambassador. At the meeting,
“we reaffirm President Nicolás Maduro's commitment to strengthening the
bonds of friendship, cooperation and unity between our peoples,” he said.
Benmokhtar
studied at the School of Higher International and Political Studies in Paris,
France, and a master's degree in Economic and Social Administration.
His work in
the diplomatic area began in 2008, when he served as Head of the
“Indonesia-Vietnam” Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2011, he was appointed
First Secretary of the Embassy of Algeria in The Hague, Netherlands, and since
2022 he held the position of Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Algeria in
Madrid.
Relations
between Caracas and Algiers were established on March 22, 1971 and were
strengthened in 1999 with the arrival of Commander Hugo Chávez to the Presidency of Venezuela, through the holding
of joint commissions and the signing of
agreements that reflect the continuous twinning of countries.
