The reserve general of the Brazilian Army, Mário Fernandes, former minister of the former far-right president, Jair Bolsonaro, testified before the Supreme Federal Court (STF) that he wrote the document known as the 'Green and Yellow Dagge', a text that described the assassination of authorities such as the current president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the vice-president Geraldo Alckmin and the magistrate Alexandre de Moraes.

The confession is part of the investigations into the attempted coup in Brazil in January 2023. In the statement, Fernandes stated that the document was a digitized idea about the political scenario after the 2022 elections, when Lula was elected president. According to his testimony, the file was created and printed in the Planalto Palace, where he worked, but he immediately destroyed it and did not share it with anyone.

For its part, the Federal Police maintains that the plan was drafted in November 2022, shortly after the election results, and that the military discussed it at the residence of General Braga Netto, former minister of the former president of the extreme right, Jair Bolsonaro, and his running mate in the presidential campaign.

Fernandes also revealed that in Bolsonaro's environment, a possible presidential decree was being debated to justify an intervention by the Executive on other powers, on supposedly constitutional arguments.

In his statement, he mentioned a call to General Ramos, then Bolsonaro's advisor: “If that movement exists and is within the Constitution, why not reinforce it?” he said.

The plan came to light after the report of Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, former assistant to Jair Bolsonaro, who stated that Braga Netto financed part of the operation. According to Cid, the general handed money in a bag of wine to Major Rafael Martins de Oliveira, another person involved in the case.
