Former French presidential advisor Alain Minc accused French President Emmanuel Macron of being responsible for the deterioration of the political system and the strengthening of the extreme right on the eve of the 2027 elections.
During a public statement, Minc highlighted that the personal behavior of the Head of State has led to decisions that have compromised institutional balance and favored the advancement of the National Group (RN), the party that leads the polls for the next presidential elections.
“Macron leaves the country in a much worse state than when he came to power (...) he will leave a political landscape that may be permanently unstable in France. It's unforgivable,” he said.
The economist, who accompanied Macron in his first electoral campaign and for part of his first term, stated that the president abandoned the bipartisan model, promoting a new centrist current that, in his opinion, left traditional forces without counterweight.
Minc also questioned the president's political environment and stated that the errors accumulated during his term of office can generate a period of prolonged instability in the country.
He concluded that the electoral scenario planned for 2027 could consolidate a right-wing parliamentary majority, with profound implications for France's institutional future.
