Members of the Program for Peace and Democratic Coexistence held a meeting at the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies Rómulo Gallegos (CELARG), in Caracas, with the former president of Spain, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, in order to exchange views on advances in national reconciliation and the strengthening of political dialogue in the country.
During the meeting, Rodríguez Zapatero expressed his optimism in the face of the current scenario, describing it as a milestone in the process of social stabilization.
“With great satisfaction I can say that, after 10 years, in which I have been linked to the political situation in Venezuela, this is the moment of well-founded hope. It gives me great satisfaction, I sense it and I see that peace is the task, coexistence, the path and definitive reconciliation, the goal”, he emphasized.
He also expressed his full confidence in the management of the President in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, stressing that in record time she has achieved significant results for the country's stability.
In addition, he described the Amnesty for Democratic Coexistence bill as an ambitious and necessary initiative desired by all Venezuelan society. “Through dialogue, the best processes are built,” he said.
For his part, the coordinator of the Program for Peace and Democratic Coexistence, Ernesto Villegas, celebrated the participation of the Spanish politician for his career in facilitating dialogues in conflict contexts at the global level.
“We deeply value both your contribution to building peace and coexistence and the guidance you can provide us to carry out this immense task that we have on our shoulders,” he said.
