Venezuelan Francisco Álvarez will miss between six and eight weeks of action due to a tear in the meniscus of his left knee that required surgery.

The information was confirmed by the New York Mets, Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) press review

The Venezuelan injured himself after making a swing on Tuesday, in the Metropolitans' 10-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers, at Citi Field.

Álvarez violently sprained his leg after hitting a foul against right-hander Burch Smith.

The receiver Mirandino in 2023 suffered a torn ligament in his thumb and a fracture in the crocodile bone of his left hand, injuries that have limited him to only 213 games since 2024.

After placing Francisco Álvarez on the 10-day disabled list, the Mets promoted Hayden Senger from Triple A, who will be the substitute behind the plate of fellow tricolor Luis Torrens.

The native of Guatire compiled an average of .241 and OPS of .710 in 128 trips to the plate spread over his first 37 matches of the campaign. He also had four home runs and 10 RBIs.
