The governor of the state of Táchira, Freddy Bernal, highlighted the fighting strength of the members of the Bolivarian Militia and their fundamental role in the restoration of constitutional order on April 13, 2002.

In that sense, he specified that “men and women, even pregnant women, I came to see men in their 70s who did not lower their heads”.

Because of this, he stressed that this is the difference between the revolutionary leadership and that of the right; “the opposition launches a certain and devious blow against the Revolution and when we discover them or they are unveiled they run to the embassies crying (...) Not us, we've never been to an embassy, we haven't given up, we've always taken responsibility.”

Bernal specified that the opposition leadership “has no project, it is submissive to the United States and a leadership like ours that is willing to give its life if necessary for our ideas and our people.”
