Regional and municipal authorities in the state of La Guaira provided financial resources for the execution of second projects approved by 24 Communes, during the Fourth National Popular Consultation of 2025, as part of the direct funding scheme for the People's Power.
The event was led by Governor José Alejandro Terán and the mayor of the Vargas municipality, José Manuel Suárez, who stressed that these resources will make it possible to carry out prioritized works by the communities themselves to meet social and service needs, the regional president said on his social networks.
“On this day when we commemorate the 13th anniversary of the planting of our giant Hugo Chávez Frías, we proudly say to him: Commander, here is your people governing! Today, 24 communes receive funding for their projects, closing a perfect cycle of participation in La Guaira. This is the toparchy: the people prioritize, the people vote and the people execute,” Terán said on his Instagram account.
During his speech, Terán reported that in 2025 the state registered 584 projects approved by the people in four popular consultations, corresponding to the 73 communes and communal circuits existing in the entity.
“Thanks to this mechanism created by President Nicolás Maduro, participatory and direct democracy has deepened. In 2025 alone, 584 projects prioritized by communities were funded,” the regional president explained, according to a review by national and local media.
He explained that each initiative receives funding of approximately 10 thousand dollars, which represents a total investment of close to five million 840 thousand dollars directly managed by the People's Power in La Guaira.
Among the works carried out, there are programs to replace roofs, drinking water systems, wastewater, socio-productive projects, agricultural roads, sports fields and youth houses, selected through community voting.
