The National Art Gallery (GAN), in Caracas, will open its doors next Sunday, March 15, to host the group exhibition “Uncensored: Nudity in Venezuelan Art” from the National Museums Foundation.

The opening of the exhibition brings together works by more than 100 Venezuelan artists, and is scheduled for 11:00 in the morning.

Among the participating artists are notable artists such as Cristóbal Rojas, Arturo Michelena, Armando Reverón, Tecla Tofano, Luis Guevara Moreno and Antonia Azuaje, together with contemporary creators from the country.

The exhibition offers a journey through different visions of the nude through different techniques and artistic disciplines such as painting, drawing, graphic arts, ceramics, sculpture, installation and photography.

According to the curatorial text, the exhibition seeks to generate a dialogue between periods and styles of Venezuelan art, ranging from pre-Hispanic pieces to contemporary visual proposals that explore the body and its meanings.

The works that make up this exhibition come from the national collection protected by the GAN, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Caracas Armando Reverón, and will be open to the public from the opening date.
